So now that I've started blogging I can't seem to stop! The Google Reader is almost as fun as customising my iGoogle account and definitely easier than blogging. I've only added a couple of my regular blog reads to it and some new randoms that were suggested to me, but I can completely see the appeal already. Having my favourite reads neatly organised in a folder named "blogs" in my bookmarks doesn't really mean that I'll ever actually get around to reading them. So using Google Reader does at least mean that I get the updates continuously and in a nicely presented format, a lovely way to waste a rainy lunch break! Again, I can completely see the appeal from the students perspective obviously especially in conjunction with their iGoogle accounts. I'm beginning to feel less scared of the term "digital dashboard" as we speak!

I think I'll leave it for the night and try out some tagging, look at other library related blogs and tidy up my own blog in another session!
I know for thing 4 we are supposed to start interacting and commenting on people's posts. Your igoogle page looks much more exciting than mine. But really just wanted to comment on your profile as I also love Wodehouse and Asterix (not so much with shoes and cheese!) Unfortunately cannot read Asterix in the original but I did get excited when I read that Anthea Bell lives in Histon - so just up the road and I may have passed her in town!

ReplyDeleteAs for Wodehouse, all I can say is that I'm sure I was born in the wrong decade, and possibly the wrong gender. I know deep down I was destined to be a member of the Drones Club and throw bread rolls at dinner time, as any young gentleman of a certain means is supposed to ;)
Anyway, thanks for the comment, it's encouraging to know that we're all engaging with each other and developing an online community!

ReplyDeleteOh Lady Kenneth Williams - super, super, super. I not only have read Asterix in the original I've still got them, they might even be first editions!!! I love Tintin too. Anyway, on the slightly work side of things. Do you think/know that students have or use igoogle pages? I often see ours checking their gmail but can't recall seeing any igoogle pages being used, though that could be due to the fact that I wouldn't have recognised one having dismissed such pages when I first came across their like in Yahoo.
